Experts Explore the Great Green Hope
Building green may be the best and most cost-effective way to address global warming, but the actual bricks and mortar of it remains shrouded in mystery for many of us.
Who sets green building standards and who enforces them? What does it cost to build this way and how do we know if and when we've achieved green?
On Thursday, February 12th at 5 pm the ongoing weekly Okanagan Institute Express series at the Bohemian Café presents Demystifying Green Buildings in which moderator George Hutchison, along with JoAnne Adamson, Shane Lapp and Gustav van Niekerk open windows and doors on these and other questions with answers from engineering, design and construction professionals at work in the Okanagan.
From certifications and specifications to costs and construction, this session will clear up our misconceptions and explain the differences between various green building rating systems. We'll find out too whether we're wrong to think that being green means giving up contemporary ideas about luxury, comfort and beauty.
The presentation will appeal to anyone curious about the greening of our built environment.
