From Ricardo Scebba's Mediterranean Kitchen
Ricardo Scebba has an uncanny ability to step off the page right into your kitchen with his amusing anecdotes, kitchen savvy and flat out love of food and family. His cookbook "That's Amore" brings you inside an authentic Italian Family kitchen with recipes and a passion for cooking that has passed down and evolved over three generations
Since opening in 2001, Ricardo's Mediterranean Kitchen has won numerous awards including "#1 Italian Restaurant in British Columbia" by Open Table diners as well as "Best Restaurant," "Best Service," "Best Italian," "Best Romantic," "Best Chef," and "Best of the Best" from Okanagan Life Magazine and "Greenest Business" (2011) awarded by the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce. Tucked away on a quiet road just outside Kelowna, BC - Ricardo's Mediterranean Kitchen offers gratifying, authentic dishes echoing from the Italian countryside and the Mediterranean basin. From mama's hand-rolled, homemade meatballs to organic produce grown in the family garden, chef-owner Ricardo Scebba honors his Italian heritage and serves favorite family recipes that offer a true taste of Mediterranean life. The Tuscan-inspired 50-seat room designed by Georgie Award-winner, Tara Trumpetter makes the perfect place to savor Ricardo's time-honoured taste creations with family, friends and lovers. Situated in the Holiday Park Resort just 20km north of Kelowna, Ricardo's Mediterranean Kitchen is the Okanagan's best-kept secret.
Like the restaurant, the cookbook is a family project of sorts. Family recipes are shared by Ricardo's mother while photographs were contributed by Ricardo's cousins Santino Matrundola & Tony Veltri. The book contains over 55 mouth-watering recipes that capture the essence of Italian home cooking. Home cooks, chefs and food aficionados can learn the secrets to Nonna's Poplette and Pasta Fagioli, simple flavourful dishes that can be made with ease and confidence thanks to Ricardo's easy-to-follow recipes. Ricardo's is donating a portion of the cookbook proceeds to Food Banks.
"I am a lucky man to have Ricardo and Sue as patrons in the beautiful Okanagan. The food is amazing: always accompanied by a great wine and tall tales around a happy table of well-fed friends and musicians." - Barney Bentall, legendary rock musician and rancher
"Ricardo's cooking took me right back to Italy. We're lucky to have him and his fresh, simple, delicious food here in BC. And his desserts - 100% to die for. Best panna cotta I've had in my life." - Erin Ireland, food reporter, Vancouver BC
"You will fall in love with Ricardo's the minute you walk through the door. You are greeted as family, indulged with beautiful food and spoiled with attention. True to the spirit of the Italian table, the Scebba family shares their recipes, traditions and hearts through these pages. It is a love letter about the celebration of food, family and the good life." - Jennifer Schell, writer and editor, Kelowna BC
