30 Days to a New You. A Memoir For Cherron Dawn Abernethy, life started out as quest for perfection. "My life will be perfect when I graduate from high school ... when I find the right boyfriend ... when I get the right house ... get married ... have children." And so it went until she realized none of these things made her happy. In fact, she was miserable.
Cherron Dawn Abernethy was born in Lloydminster Saskatchewan and moved to the Southern Interior of British Columbia as a toddler where she has resided ever since. The idea for this book came as she documented her own rapid-pace spiritual unfoldment over the course of 30 days. Rather than assume this was simply a personal experience, she recognized it as a demonstration of what can happen to anyone as they embrace the lifelong challenge of listening to the Still Small Voice within. Dawn makes her home in Kelowna, B.C. From the press release: OKANAGAN WRITER CAPTURES LOCAL SPIRIT WITH NEW BOOK KELOWNA - For Cherron Dawn Abernethy, life started out as quest for perfection. "My life will be perfect when I graduate from high school ... when I find the right boyfriend ... when I get the right house ... get married ... have children." And so it went until she realized none of these things made her happy. In fact, she was miserable. It was at this point that the Dawn realizes there is another way. Looking to nature, Abernethy begins to see the beauty and magnificence that continually surrounds her, and reveals this in her book New Dawn: 30 Days to a New You. This unique memoir reflects the beauty of the region with colourful photographs of local birds, each photo acting as a metaphor for Abernethy's real life journey as she heals childhood tragedy, releases old ideas of abandonment and builds a pathway for a life filled with inner peace and joy. The idea for A New Dawn came as Abernethy documented her own rapid-pace spiritual unfoldment over the course of 30 days here in the Central Okanagan. Rather than assume this was simply a personal experience, she recognized it as a demonstration of what can happen to anyone as they embrace the lifelong challenge of listening to the Still Small Voice within. "Anyone with an interest in nature and spirituality is bound to moved by her story," says local editor and writer Karin Wilson. Abernethy will be holding public reading from her book at the Kelowna Art Gallery, Saturday June 11 from noon to 2 p.m. This free event is open to everyone and features music from Barb Samuel and Neal Klassen.
